KICK 'N CANCER 2012
About Us

Roland Kay, founder of Kick’n Cancer, is excited for the chance to make people alert of the need for cancer research, as well as collect donations to help find a cure for the disease which has ravaged his family over the years.

“My mom died when I was 18 years old from cancer, and then a couple years later, my sister died from the disease,” Kay said. “Then in 2009, my dad died from pancreatic cancer.

“With all these deaths I have dealt with, including aunts and uncles who’ve died from cancer, I said I want to have  benefits for the disease.”

However, Kay said he doesn’t want to dedicate the benefits to just his family he has lost from the disease.

“I want to dedicate [the fundraisers] to everybody who’s ever lost somebody to this disease, ever been touched by this disease in some way, because I wanted to make sure … we’re giving back,” Kay said.

“I know people have thought to themselves, ‘Hey, why can’t I do something to give back?’ and so I decided to help everyone out who wants to help.”

My ultimate goal for the benefit is for people with cancer,” Kay said. “There could be some miracle cure some day, and by doing this, we’re making the future look better for these people.”

When asked about any future plans for a second Kick’n Cancer Benefit next year, Kay said, “This is something we want to do every year. This year, we had between 1,300 to1500 people. Next year, 5,000 is my big goal.
